Seems like I only update once a year lately. Well, it's been a busy 2025 that's for sure. This year we traveled and moved and I've been navigating retired life. My interest in 3D has taken a back seat to my laser hobby which I'm using to sell on Etsy. I've been wanting one for a while and retirement seemed like a good time. The new house has a pretty cool set up for it even if it is in the garage. It's still near enough to catch the wifi and with a heater it's actually pretty comfortable.
I've decided to jump back into 3D and create resources to sell. That required a new PC, especially since my old one was throwing up blue screens of death lately so I have a new ride. I'd been wanting a new one with a better graphics card but I'd been keeping the old pc alive on life support for the better part of a decade. I'd replaced the old hard drive with a updated dds drive, I upgraded the memory and graphics card but it still wasn't enough. And there's the fact that windows 8 is as outdated as html 4.0 so Black Friday shopping it was.
This is my new ride. It's a MXZ gaming computer from Newegg. I'm happy with it for the most part. It did come with a defect and the the company has yet to get back to me on it but I've decided I waited too long to deal with sending it back and waiting for a fix. On the back there is a misalignment. Four of the USB ports are unusable. Technically I didn't get what I paid for but a USB hub fixes the issue so I can get on with life. They won't be getting a very good review from me however. It's taking forever downloading my 3D library though. This is the first year that I haven't been able to create my own Christmas card and it bums me out a bit but honestly, I could use the break. Every year I try to create a unique Christmas scene and it gets pretty expensive. And few people send cards these days so this year I'll just be sending out reciprocal cards that are store bought. It's 3 days into December and I'm fighting off the plague. Not -THE- plague, I tested because my mom lives with us but a plague nonetheless and its cutting into the time I need to plan. We're hosting Christmas eve and two weeks later, heading to our son's destination wedding with a quick stop in Vegas to surprise mom with the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere. And then I'll have the freedom to create again.
