An Update on Opinion Outpost

   Posted by: Kendra

I posted, back in January, about Opinion Outpost and what I felt was a scam that should be avoided.   My issue is resolved but it took months and quite a few emails, finally, one sent to the company that is running Opinion Outpost.

A search I did online showed me that I was not alone in my complaint.  Many had the same issues and their own BBBOnline rating was a ‘C’.   A whois search gave me the company running OP so I cc’d a complaint to them and that’s when I began to get results.

Here’s what was happening:  Many times I would spend anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes on a survey only to get a message at the end that told me they had filled their quota (and despite my time spent would not get paid) or that I was suddenly not qualified.  (at the end of the survey, yeah right)   They are set up that you can only cash out at anything over $5.  I was under that but felt I was being scammed every time I logged in so I made my complaint and asked that they compensate me for the surveys that were a scam and set my earnings to the point where I could simply cash out and be done with their program.  They refused.  Then they locked me out of my account.  Now under $5 isn’t much to fight about but for me it was the principal of the issue.  I was not about to be scammed out of one dime and so I fought with emails and links to other upset customers.

They claim to be looking into the situation and my account has been re-opened with enough to cash out.  It obviously took a lot to get them to even glance at the problem.   Do a search on “Opinion Outpost” and the first Google recommendations is for “Opinion Outpost Scam”.   Not good publicity.  http://www.surveypolice.com/opinion-outpost

They claim to be looking into the problem.  I for one will not stay with them.  My faith in the company and the way they treated a legitimate complaint has been completely shattered.

One Giant *Punch* for Mankind.

On the 40th anniversary of the moon landing I could post the link to We Choose The Moon and tell you all that I watched and listened to it all morning.

But I’d much rather post this (and cheer on Buzz Aldren).  I believe the date on this is 2002:

Now I hadn’t heard of Bart Sibrel specifically before this but I have heard the conspiracy theorists that claim we couldn’t possibly have landed on the moon. I prefer not to spend too much time listening to people like this who usually have the “Hate America” thing going on and I’ve no patience or respect for people like that. In my search about Bart Sibrel I found this:

Seems Mr. Sibrel took a chapter out of Michael Moore’s book on how to fake a documentary.

Miss California keeps her crown

I was very happy to hear that news.  While I didn’t hear what Trump said it would appear he got up there and proved he had a pair and didn’t acquiesque to the PC crowd.   I understand those who may have been upset by her answer but the fact is that she was asked her opinion.  She gave her opinion.  No one should have any fears that Miss California will single-handedly be responsible for any legislation on gay marriage.  She holds an opinion and nothing more.  She stated that opinion with grace…something Perez Hilton could use a lesson in.  (In my opinion :) )

Web Hosting Ideas

   Posted by: Kendra

I noticed the other day that my website is running low on space.  That prompted me to have a look at what else might be out there for hosting.  I don’t need a lot of space but graphics do take up some room.  Neither do I need a ton of bandwidth but I’m noticing a lot of places are offering unlimited bandwidth as well. So in my search for the best web hosting I found Web Hosting Geeks. I was reading their blog piece on Website Security which I found enlightening considering my site was hacked last month.   I like the way their front page lists their top 10 best web hosts.  If you’re looking for a web host you really should give them a look.  I know someone who is considering web hosting and I’ll be pointing them to Web Hosting Geeks.

Do you think any of them were able to wrap their minds around the fact that they were using Capitalism to pave their road to Socialism?

I think I need a new webhost

   Posted by: Kendra

The new phone lets me check my email away from home and I guess I haven’t been keeping up to date on my domains and web hosting because it wasn’t until I was two states away that I realized that two domains need renewing and my webhosting is coming due.  It’s my kids domains and luckily they have a grace period if I miss the deadline or don’t have auto renew in place.  But I’m running out of space where I have this domain hosted and I’ve been wondering if I should do some shopping around.  I’ll have more images to upload to the gallery, especially after this trip so it makes sense that I start shopping around for a different host.  I was looking at this site’s web hosting rating for ideas. What a great idea. It shows you different options for web hosting and what hosts are good for the portal I use which is Joomla. I really should update but my host doesn’t have the most recent version unfortunately.
This article comes in handy about hosting multiple domains as I’m already hosting my son’s little website and my daughter now wants her own. I installed Joomla for my son and found a script similar to myspace where his friends can create their own pages on his site. If it keeps him off of myspace it’ll be worth it. But it’s eating into my allowed disc space so Web Hosting shopping I go.

If you have any questions…

..such as using DOT Word Document Template files or what is a dwg file extension then check out backupanswers.com/blog. It’s incredibly informative and contains just about everything from ‘what is a WIDGET file’ for those of you into blogging and most likely to need to know what a WIDGET file is to ‘installing an EXE file’. By the way, did you know that computer viruses are most likely to be distributed via an EXE file? I never open an exe file that I didn’t know and have seen a few come through my email. Not everyone knows this though. I know I have warned my mom not to open anything and everything that is sent to her inbox and I’m always hoping she isn’t tempted by something that looks “safe”. There have been a few times where I’ve come across file extensions that I did not recognize either in my email or in an unfamiliar web site. Before you open anything online you should know what it is, what it could be and what could happen if you do open it. I know a few people I’ll be sending this link to. You can even find information on itunes file formats. The most informative section for me was DOC Files Tools and Tips. I’m always forgetting which format to tell the kids to use so that files they work on at home can be opened at school as well.

At home I keep getting calls that are nothing but recordings for either credit or mortgages (yeah, sure predatory lending was a myth). The legit ones will give you an out for getting off of their list but the one’s who appear to be scams don’t. I usually punch the number into a search engine to see what information I can find on it. Sometimes others come up with additional information that helps me reporting them. There’s a new online site for these phone numbers. It’s www.reportphonenumbers.com. Add the number that keeps calling you with information others might find helpful.
